I choose to watch this video because well one it was under my major and second because the title of the video was a really good question. I watched “Ivan Oransky: Are we over-medicalized?, and it is related to my major because my major is in the medical field and like the title says, Ivan elaborates and talks about if we are over medicalized. The speaker was really effective instead of speaking in big terms that nobody can relate to he speaks in terms that we can. He is really good in adding funny little comments that make the video humorous, what I like that he also does is that throughout the video he uses real life situations or real life comparisons so that we the audience can understand. By watching this video I learned that there’s a such thing as being over medicalized and it happens in our society today. Ivan explains that doctors over use prescription drugs, test, and other things that are not necessary to use. He says that “ Our healthcare system… are just as bad at predicating what is wrong with our patients than...”, He explains how doctors diagnose a whole bunch of pre diseases and to him he calls the preposterous. This video was really interesting it has me still thinking about what Ivan was saying throughout the video and I agree in everything that he is saying. I agree that it is possible that doctors diagnose and prescribe for there so called diseases just so that the patients can believe that they are sick or need medication and therefor causing the funds to go up. This is the first TED video that actually leaves me wondering, I never have really thought about all the things that Ivan just spoke about and I find it very interesting and eye opening.
